The Air Jordan 17+ will Retro in 2016

The Air Jordan 17+ in the ‘Copper’ colorway is scheduled to release in 2016…but they lost me at $250.

There will also be a brand new Chicago inspired colorway of the shoe to celebrate MJ reaching 30,000 points against the Bulls as a Wizard. I wouldn’t expect a briefcase to be released with the shoe since this is the 17+ which never came with a briefcase, but never say never.

Feel free to discuss the news below in the comment section. I think it’s awesome that Jordan Brand is finally reaching past the 14’s for the Retro treatment…I’m just not willing to pay for them.

  1. I have the og and cdp, no need for these….even if they were less expensive. @ $250 they should make them more of a lux shoe anyway, maybe give them the “exotic” leather treatment or some such, extend the croc skin around or something. I dunno, make them…better.

  2. That price point is just abominable. Jordan Brand’s been raking profits as of late (MJ himself notwithstanding), yet the brand still decided to up the ante by increasing the price of the 17. Ridiculous!

    1. I totally agree with you. The price increase is ridiculous, they are just basketball shoes not something that will make you fly above the court or make you better player. Their price is unacceptable so they will be easy pass for me.

  3. Damn… I want… But that price just really sucks! I really hope they end up sitting and hit sales racks cuz that’s the ONLY way I’m getting them.

  4. Jordan Brand never places retros for less than retail, no matter how long they sit smh. I for one like some of these J’s but I’m more into basketball sneakers that perform up to par with today’s athletes.

  5. The black and silver version of these were my first pair of J’s. I got them with the briefcase for clearance at around $125 at the time. For 250 you should feel like you are stepping on clouds which it does not. The setup is a 6.5/10 at best.

  6. I have never bought a Jordan Retro and probably will not with Freaking prices like this. Shoulda bought a pair of retros 2-3 years ago when they were still half-way affordable.

    1. No real difference except there was no shroud/lace cover for the 17+, and the materials used were supposed to be a bit more premium. Mostly aesthetics, but performance wise it was definitely the same shoe. Without the DVD, brief case, and all the fluff, the shoe should’ve retailed in 2001 for at most $165 and maybe $175 for the plus just because of the materials.

  7. Seriously one of the best performing Jordans I’ve ever played in. The original release were built for balling, very slept on performance sneaker. great grip, cushioning, support, little to no break in time, great materials, SOLID ASS SHOE.

  8. Agree that its a good move by Jordan to produce post 14, but they wont do it again, as this price point is just damn too high!!!

  9. Never mind the $250 tag. The only people who can buy Retro J’s now are resellers, who then mark up their price by double the retail price (at minimum). That’s what the sneaker culture has come too.

  10. That price is steep as hell for those of us who would like to ball in this sort of shoe, which kind of proves that Nike has made these for those Pugsley Addams looking dudes, those who walk around posing at sneaker conventions. It is a damned shame that a shoe such as this, will never touch a basketball court outside of D1 college and the NBA, by those of whom will probably get them for free.

  11. I promise you, Sec, if they send them to me for free, I WILL ball in them. To think, I had these originally, sitting on my kitchen table, and couldn’t believe I spent $170 on them when I already had the black XVII, so I took them back.

  12. I had them, ran right through them in one summer and fall, never looked back. At the time I didn’t know they were that popular, so I was like, whatever. However, I got mine for a buck fiddy at The Sports Authority, off the sale rack.

Now because of these thirsty sneakerheads, prices on solid Jordan shoes have skyrocketed, and it sucks. I am glad I have other choices these days.
