Reebok Classics and Lil Yachty Form a Classic Partnership

In case you haven’t been reading or watching, Reebok Classics has formed a hit rapper squad in 2017 — the latest addition is Lil Yachty.

Gucci Mane, Future, Teyana Taylor, Machine Gun Kelly, and Rae Sremmurd have all signed with the brand in the last 12 months, with special versions of the Workout, Club C, and Classic Leather dropping in support of each artist.

At only 20 years old, Yachty has already climbed the charts with his lead mixtape Lil Boat and singles “Broccoli” and “I Spy.” He is currently on tour supporting his album Teenage Emotions through the fall.

Yachty will be rocking the Workout, a shoe that first dropped in the mid-80’s when Reebok was the number one shoe company and aerobics were raging. The Workout was designed for the exercise fiends that lifted weights and didn’t wear leg warmers (Google those); it used the same sipple leather upper as the ExoFit but with a stiffer outsole and a saddle around the midfoot for support.

The Workout popped up again in the mid-’90s when Ice Cube and Reebok began promoting the Classics line in print ads.

So how did Lil Yachty come into Reebok knowledge? The Workout is a huge shoe in New Orleans (actually, Reebok has a huge audience in the Crescent City), and the Hot Boys rocked the silhouette in the late ’90s; they called it the “Soljas” and spread the culture to Yachty’s hometown of Atlanta.

The Reebok Workout Mid and Low can be had right now at Eastbay.com.

Let us know if you are rocking Reebok Classics.
