Only if I trust the shoe’s performance do I take them with me to my League games – the court is usually dust ridden – so for me to have worn these for 40 minutes instead of my go-to Kobe 8’s… that’s saying something.
Just like I said way back when I reviewed the Ektio Post Up… these have amazing traction. The CP3.VI, Kobe 8 and Kobe 4 are all highly regarded in terms of their traction… these are just better. Not only is herringbone used throughout, the rubber itself is a perfect blend between being pliable and being durable. If you were looking for something that would provide you will ample traction no matter if you were playing indoors or outdoors, then this is what you’d like to see.
The cushion hasn’t changed since the last model at all but the comfort is there. With the simple addition of an ortholite insole, they feel different enough to where you would think they changed the foam when they really didn’t. All those ribs that you see running throughout the midsole really supply you with a great deal of compression upon foot strikes so you are being protected while remaining comfortable.
The subtle changes made to the Ektio Breakaway are substantial enough that I would have placed these on the top performance models of 2012. Will they be on the 2013 list? It’s a little too soon to say but it’s very possible.
Wow, this is a good surprise. Another nice performing shoe outside the swoosh, jumpman & 3 stripes.
I agree. lets hope that they perform well and reach the high standards set by the original ektio.
At first glance, they are ugly)))
I never tried Ektio before but I just might now. I have been wearing the melo M8 advanced and they are great but I still want something to really protect my ankles.
More colorways please!! But grey/black looks awesome!
