The Nike React Element 87 has snuck its way into contention among the online community as a sneaker of the year candidate. Now, the latest build of the modern model, the React Element 87 x UNDERCOVER, is set to release in collaboration with fashion designer Jun Takahashi.
Debuted at Paris Fashion Week for FW18, the latest React Element 87 is inspired by the Nike Internationalist and other classic models, according to the Swoosh. This Light Beige Chalk, Signal Blue, and University Red build features UNDERCOVER branding across the lateral side of the upper along with reflective and translucent details we have all come to love or hate with the Element 87. Notably missing are the cork insoles we have seen with previous releases; instead, a more traditional looking Signal Blue insole is employed with Nike React branding.
The Nike React Element 87 seems to be among the top of 2018’s unofficial power rankings, and whether you agree with that or not, the sneaker definitely doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. The shoe seems to go bolder with every release and this colorway may only be the first of several others in collaboration with UNDERCOVER.
The Nike React Element 87 x UNDERCOVER will release on Nike.com and at several retailers worldwide (infographic below) on September 13 at an elevated retail price of $180. For fans of the model looking for something a bit less rich, check out the React Element 55.
