Kobe Bryant Talks LeBron, Retirement, Lakers Roster, and More with Rich Eisen

kobe bryant rich eisen interview

On Mamba Day, Kobe Bryant sat down with sports journalist Rich Eisen for an in-depth interview that covered Kobe’s future, LeBron James, projects outside of basketball, and coaching his daughter’s basketball team.

In the full 15-minute interview, Kobe gets unusually frank with Eisen about his future. “There’s about a 0% chance I come back and play,” said Bryant. “Done, finished.” Moreover, he discusses coaching his 12-year-old daughter’s basketball team. He’s running Phil Jackson’s triangle, and the girls are killing it.

When Eisen asked Kobe what he wanted to do with his second career in television and media, Kobe replied, “We want to use sports as the greatest metaphor for life. If we feel that we can teach kids how to deal with anxiety, how to deal with pressure, how to deal with success through sport, that in turn helps them to become better people.”

  1. Man this is a great interview!!
    Can’t get enough post-NBA Kobe.

Personal challenge to never come back? You sir, are winning.

  2. I’d love to see him on an episode of “The Shop”, discussing what it means to be Black in America. Both he and Jordan, chopping it up with LeBron, Snoop, and the crew. I know it will never happen though. He fan base isn’t necessarily the most conscious group of people. In fact, if he ever discussed half of the things that LeBron does in public, Kobe’s fans would probably run and hide, never to be heard from again.
