Initial Thoughts After Playing in the Nike LeBron 15 for the First Time

Nike held a wear-test for the upcoming Nike LeBron 15 this past weekend in LA. Here are my thoughts on the shoe after playing in them for a bit.

This is not a performance review. We typically test our shoes for a couple of weeks — over 20 hours usually — prior to a performance review being published (a week at best if we’re able to play in them every day for a few hours at a time).

This was just a few runs in the LeBron 15, but it left me wanting more. I haven’t felt cushion this good on a Nike since the LeBron 10. I’d even say this was slightly better — mostly because you can actually maneuver while wearing them.

If you wanted to know more then check the video below. Feel free to share your thoughts on the LeBron 15 in the comment section and stay tuned for an actual performance review once I get my hands on a pair.

  1. Can you hear that…can you feel it? It’s all all the idiots that initially hated this shoe but because others say they like it, all of a sudden they love it now. These same people are going to buy this up online thus making it hard to get for the people who really want them

    1. Keep dreaming. These will be widely available, and they will not sell out quickly, regardless of the reviews pro or con. Nike is NOT very hot right now, and kids between the ages of 15 to the age of 21 really do not care about shoes that cost this much to play in, and I do not blame them one bit.

That said, Nightwing, did they give you a reason as to why you could not keep the shoes?! I wonder what they are keeping them for.

  2. I’ve tried replacing my lebron X with so many other shoes. Nothing matched the cushion I needed. I really wished the x was more flexible and lighter weight. Maybe even more breathable. These look too to be all the improvements I was looking for. Here is hoping!

  3. On a limb they probably get the shoes as wear samples, despite the very limited use. Probably some small things they want to make late tweaks on for future colorways — kinda like how the LeBron 12 got the eyelet reinforcement at the top or something.

But great to know they ride much lower than they look.

  4. Great first impressions, it leaves me with the idea that this LeBron will be similar to the previous Petrie designs, they LOOK big, but are build to suit much smaller players(the guy giving the introduction pretty much said that straight up).

  5. Hey guys. I really want to decide between the leBron 15 and the air Jordan 32, so please post the performance review ASAP, so that I can get my hands on either of the two while they’re available. Also, can someone help me decide between the two? (I play at the zero position, so mostly rebounds and dunking, though I run a lot on-court). Thanks a ton!

  6. Someone needs to explain to me why these are so awesome. There is absolutely 0 ankle support in the shoe. If you are a guard and never plan to go inside then go with the 15’s. If you are inside then I would say these are pretty disappointing at best…

  7. After playing in these shoes, here is my review. The cushioning in the shoe is amazing, however, I felt like I was wearing a sock with a platform heel. The front of my feet slid around a couple of times (break in period?) and afterwards felt OK and the cables seemed to snap my foot back in place. My ankle felt locked in even though they are primarily low tops but my foot slid over the platform towards the front on a couple of occasions which worried me and led me to believe that when this shoe ages, something bad will happen when you are playing in it (twisted ankle, knee, wipe out) and I am a guard who relies on quickness and cutting to be effective and I felt a tad slow wearing them. So as a guard, this is not an ideal shoe for me. For a forward who needs a lot of cushioning, this is the shoe for you. I am concerned about the durability as well because I saw creasing in the shoe on the sides that concerned me after several hours worth of playing. That being said, they are awesome looking shoes but not functional for playing for me and I have since sent mine back and purchased instead, a pair of the Lebron 12 elites. Good luck for those of you who buy them to play in.
