A First Look at the Nike Zoom KD9 ‘Varsity Red’

Swoosh is known for releasing a multitude of colorways on its signature shoes. However, not all colorways really stand out on many silhouettes, with one current exception, and that is the Nike KD9. Now, we have a first look at the upcoming ‘Varsity Red’ colorway.

The Varsity Red really pops, and we’re okay with that! The upper on this latest colorway features the same materials as the previous KD9s (Flyknit forefoot that transitions with fuse into a mesh heel). The shoe, of course, utilizes the modified articuled full-length Zoom cushioning that most of us love to have on foot. And yet, the best part of this upcoming colorway may be that it ditches a translucent outsole for a solid rubber outsole — many have been waiting for that.

A release date for the Nike Zoom KD9 ‘Varsity Red’ is still TBD but price should remain $150. With the holidays right around the corner, it wouldn’t be a bad time to release this colorway. Are you excited for a solid rubber outsole? How has your experience been with the Nike Zoom KD9 so far? 1. Kd 9 is still my go to shoe for the year. The cushion to me is the best Balance of court feel, impact protection, and that bounce that I know and love for my basketball kicks. I know everyone loved the crazy explosive but every pair I’ve tried hasn’t felt like it has the same spongy boost I’m used to or bounce comparable to this shoe. I am looking to buy a jordan xx8 though to get that bounce back

  2. i agree, the kd9 is the best basketball shoe of the year so far, nothing really comes close in my opinion, and i like the hd 16 low and the crazylight boost 2016 a lot….the crazy explosive is a great shoe, but the traction is wearing down after two runs, and the cushion is still a bit too mushy for me
