The end of March is nigh and there are only eight teams left. Nike had a brief message for them, here it is:
With the madness of March reaching a crescendo, NIKE, Inc. proudly salutes each of its eight men and women’s college basketball teams vying to cut down nets in Houston and Indianapolis.
In Houston for the men’s Final Four on Saturday, University of Oklahoma will face Villanova University followed by Syracuse University taking on University of North Carolina. This Sunday for the women’s matchups in Indianapolis, University of Connecticut plays Oregon State University while Syracuse University and University of Washington face off in the second game.
BY THE NUMBERS
In the past decade (2006-2016), NIKE, Inc. has sponsored nearly 80 percent of men and women’s Division 1 Final Four basketball teams.
Since 2001, there have been 11 Final Fours featuring all NIKE, Inc.-sponsored teams (nine men’s and two women’s).
NIKE, Inc. schools represented 69 percent of this year’s men’s tournament field and 58 percent of the women’s field.
This year, NIKE, Inc. will proudly sponsor its 16th NCAA Division 1 Men’s Basketball Champion and its 13th NCAA Division 1 Women’s Basketball Champion of the last 20 years.
