NikeLab Dunk Hi x COMME des GARÇONS “Invisible Shoes”

Invisible shoes? How do you know they are in the box? Kidding — but Rei Kawakubo isn’t. At her COMME des GARÇONS Homme Plus show last June in Paris, the designer debuted her take on the classic Nike Dunk as an ode to The Emperor’s Clothes, the classic story of a king fooled into appearing naked in public, thinking he was wearing the newest in fashionable attire. When he was exposed, it wasn’t just physically, but his vanity was out for the world to see.

While not completely “invisible,” the side panels and toebox of this NikeLab Dunk Hi allow for some serious look at what’s inside so watch those church socks. The good thing is, this transparent look allows for those crazy patterned pairs in your drawer to shine through. This Dunk utilizes black leather overlays on the toe rand, ankle collar/heel cup, and eyestay, with perforations on the TPU vamp (the clear parts), because trust, that TPU body will get hot and fog up.

The NikeLab Dunk Hi x COMME des GARÇONS will be available February 8, exclusively COMME des GARÇONS New York (520 W 22nd Street). If you’re in the area, check ’em out. No price has been given at this time, so if you do check them out, let us know that, too. Until then, check the pics.

    1. Those came to mind when I saw these. It was the AF1 cmft. It was like a Kyrie lifestyle shoe. I saw them in person and wasn’t to impressed. Can’t imagine these would be much better.

  1. They did this with a dunk low some years back, it was a buzz lightyear colorway and the side panels and toe box were transparent as well lol!
