Nike Hyperdunk 2008 Retro Deconstructed

We were all disappointed when FastPass deconstructed the Nike Hyperdunk 2008 Lux as we found out Nike removed the heel Zoom Air unit that was originally implemented within the midsole. However, there is good news as FastPass just took apart the USA edition of the Hyperdunk 2008 Retro and they have everything the original had. Including the large volume heel Zoom Air unit.

It’s safe to say that these were Retro-ed with the intention that performance comes first as the Lunar forefoot, large volume heel Zoom Air, and glass-based Carbon Fiber shank is all there. Just like it was back in ’08.

Enjoy the actual Nike Hyperdunk 2008 deconstructed and let us know if you plan on grabbing a pair to take to the court; or are you only grabbing a pair for casual use?

  1. Never had the originals, but I did have the Kobe IV, which was amazing (minus the Lunar, which was still OK after it deadened out). If these are anything like the 2k4s they just released then these will be money and true to the original because the Huaraches really are close to the OG (minus the sockliner); way way better than the 2012 pairs. Hopefully they do these justice for Hyperdunk fans as well.

  2. I can’t believe they took out cushion on the lux version. If anything the cushion should be better on the lux version

    1. I think they do this for all lifestyle models because the intended purpose for lux models is just to walk around in (Non- Athletic). So, you really don’t need all that cushion just walk around. And its a lower cost to manufacture.

  3. I’m really considered buying another pair from Footlocker. They seem to be sitting. So the pair I got from Nike on release day will be used casually, and if I can get another pair, I might. But does the all-black pairs have zoom in the heel or JUST the USA color way?

  4. And what’s about the Neon colors (volt, photo blue, solar red, black)???? Have these models Zoom too? They haven’t the carbon shank plate like the USA model but aren’t like the lux models. Please, can anyone answer my question. I want to buy one, but only if they have zoom. Please?

  5. The be thing is only the USA edition comes with carbon fibre shenk. All the other colours have a soft flexible shenk, which I legit saw warping in store. Was let down, but glad the USA still had carbon fibre. And I could swear the OG 08’s had zoom in the forefoot as well as lunar? I will have to get out NY old pairs to check, but don’t expect an update cos I’ll prob forget to.
