Nike Golf Unveils VRS Covert 2.0 Matte Black Edition Driver

College football helmets inspire new all-black limited edition design.

Nike Golf Unveils VRS Covert 2.0 Matte Black Edition Driver 1Sports teams often incorporate black into uniforms for a big rivalry game or season opener – it’s a color traditionally associated with power, strength and sophistication. The concept, especially popular during college football season, also inspired Nike Golf club designers when it came to creating the new Nike VRS Covert 2.0 Matte Black Edition driver.

Nike Golf’s latest limited-edition innovation features a black Tour Wrap 2G grip, Kuro Kage Black shaft, and matte black club head – a design element specifically modeled after matte black college football helmets that have popped up in recent years.

“The Covert 2.0 Matte Black Edition driver offers a unique, limited-edition design combined with Nike’s high speed cavity back technology,” says Rob Arluna, Nike Golf Global Golf Club Business Director. “The matte black finish on the head provides a sleek, modern aesthetic and eliminates glare. The black grip and shaft give the driver a stealth, covert look.”

High-Speed Cavity Back technology redistributes weight to the heel and toe allowing for increased distance and more stability across the face of the driver. The Covert 2.0 Matte Black Edition driver features Fly-Brace technology that ties the sole to the crown, stiffening the rear portion of the club and transferring more energy to the face at impact.

The Covert 2.0 Matte Black Edition driver also boasts two additional proprietary technologies: A larger, re-engineered NexCOR face for increased ball speed and distance, and FlexLoft adjustability, which allows athletes to easily customize loft and face angle positions for 15 drivers in one.

The Covert 2.0 Matte Black Edition driver will be available on Nike.com and at select retailers May 15th for $299. Available in right hand only.

    1. This is now a performance site which means that all sports can and will be covered. I know, I know… your puny little brain cannot fathom that I rebranded for my own good. It’s okay… you’ve never put one cent into this space and you will still never have to… the thousands of dollars spent have all come out of my pocket. You really should get a life. Picking on people via the internet is what a 14 yr old is expected to do, not a grown man. Damn, Seth… I thought you had some sort of respect for someone that’s done everything on his own but you continue to prove that respect and class are simply two things that you are incapable of doing. If you wish to continue your online stalking then feel free… just do so quietly. I’m tired of hearing you cry.

  1. why? Every product deserves to be tested/written about. If you don’t like it, don’t read it. Stick to what you like. Spend your time doing something else than hating.

  2. Yo I like the new golf reviews! good job guys being a bball, soccer and golf fan its hard to find a site that caters to all of that especially soccer! mostly its just basketball reviews so thx guys!

  3. P.S Gettin ready to hit the links this summer and needed a new pair of clubs so I will definitely be checking these out but does anyone know how well Nike’s play????

    1. Nike’s are good drivers and woods and even putters (can prove that because I’m using a nike putter now) but yeah Nike drivers are great but honestly the top brand for drivers right now are actually all of the major brands i.e. Nike, Callaway, Taylormade, Ping, Cobra, and Titliest. It just depends on which one you prefer.
