Karhu has reached an agreement with KFS Sport Oy to resume manufacturing of its cross-country skis in Finland next year in time for the brand’s 100th anniversary.
KFS Sport will manufacture the skis at its factory on “Karhutie” or “Karhu Street” in the town of Kitee Finland and market them in Finland and throughout Europe.
“We are proud to see Karhu skis produced in Finland where they belong, in a facility where the knowledge and skill set is located,” says Huub Valkenburg CEO of Karhu Holding.
Harri Kirvesniemi, a legendary skier who is CEO for Karhu skis at KFS Sport Oy
said he is eager to bring Karhu skis back to the forefront of the European cross country ski market.
“Both consumers and dealers prefer locally sourced skis in Finland where we have the knowhow and the facilities to produce a world class product,” Kirvesniemi said.
Founded in 1916, Karhu is one of Finland’s best known running and outdoor brands.
