The Air Jordan 28 ‘Locked and Loaded’ Honors Ray Allen’s Knockout Shooting in the 2013 NBA Finals

Nike has unveiled its Art of a Champion collection (first reported as the Champions Think 16 collection) and it will be honoring Ray Allen with the Air Jordan 28 ‘Locked and Loaded’.

The Art of a Champion collection is a huge celebration of historic Playoff moments. While every moment honored did not necessarily lead to a title, it celebrates the athletes and sneakers that got to that fateful 16.

Now, the Air Jordan 28 is back — almost! Worn by Ray Allen, it is one of the best-performing Air Jordan signature models ever; the shoe was known for its zippered sleeve that contained the shoe within.

Considered one of basketball’s greatest shooters, Hall of Famer Ray Allen is known best for one crucial shot. The Spurs were leading the 2013 NBA Finals 3-2, up three points in Game 6 with just 19.4 seconds to play.

It was then that Ray Allen kept the Heat in the Finals; with a feed from Chris Bosh, Allen tied the game with a jackknife three from the corner. Of course, Tony Parker was all over him, but the shot went in and swung the series for Miami. The Heat went on to win Game 7 for a repeat title.

The Air Jordan 28 ‘Locked and Loaded’ will release on May 12. Nike has not announced pricing information for the shoe so stay tuned for updates. The original Air Jordan 28 retailed for $250 in 2013 (that’s $268 in today’s money).

  1. are they going to dumb down the tech in these? Or will it be the same great/faulty cushion set up as the original?

  2. I’m excited, but I don’t know if it will be available for a relatively easy pickup. Fantastic shoe for basketball.
