An Official Look at the Upcoming Air Jordan 13 Retro ‘Black Cat’

Air Jordan 13 Retro Blackcat - Full

Retros on retros on retros — that’s what Jordan has been banking on. It could be that JB is more a nostalgia brand than a performance brand, but with its Retro line in full effect, a classic Air Jordan has now gotten an alternate colorway.

The Air Jordan 13 is now completely blacked out, hence the name ‘Black Cat’, a moniker his Airness garnered from his friends when he competed either on or off the court.

There is no official word yet on whether this is a “Remastered” version, but the materials seem pretty similar to most recent retro releases. The midfoot area utilizes a synthetic nubuck/suede while the upper uses the well-known 3M overlay. The outsole is what we’ve seen from traditional Jordan 13s, it’s just all blacked out. The insole has a Black Cat graphic but I still wish we left sneaker nicknames in the past. I also hope that the Retro features the tech the original had: a Zoom Air bag in the heel and the forefoot. The skepticism is always there though, due to our previous experiences and latest purchases.

The Air Jordan 13 Retro ‘Black Cat’ in Black/Black-Anthracite will release on January 21 but the price is still TBD (but somewhere between $190-$220 seems about right).

What do you think of this latest blacked-out Air Jordan 13 Retro? Do you wish the forefoot had leather rather than synthetic nubuck? Is the shiny midsole too much? Do you plan on copping a pair upon release or wait for the sales rack? Let us know what you think down in the comments below.

  1. I like these a lot but paying close to 200 for shoes so they can get beat up at the end of the day I can’t do it to myself anymore. Hopefully they hit sales racks then I’ll cop

  2. Would’ve been for these if the Take Flight (or Undefeated if you prefer) 8’s are crazy. That, and I’d rather have the other rumored 13’s taking up space in my rotation.

  3. I just read the description placed on the Nike site and says the cushion is heel and forefoot air-sole, doesn’t say a thing about zoom air. Just for curiosity checked the AJ 12 wool description and it’s just a heel air sole in those!.
