Hav A Sole, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization that donates shoes to the city’s homeless, was founded by Rikki Mendias.
The latest episode of Sneakers by VICE documents how Hav A Sole helps the city. It also delves into Medias’ past, and shows how his childhood has helped him become the person he is today. Day to day, Medias is doing a lot of good, and while it won’t end homelessness in Los Angeles, it is changing lives.
“We collect new and gently worn tennis shoes and we give them to people that need them,” said Mendias in the documentary. “That includes men, women, and children, homeless individuals, people living in shelters.”
Hav A Sole has also partnered with several notable brands and organizations in the footwear space to do more good. “We have partnered the Dodgers, the Pacers, Finish Line, Nike — the list is growing,” Medias continued.
