In 2017, Reebok partnered with 20th Century Fox to create the stunning Alien Stomper ‘Final Battle’ pack, a celebration of the classic film Aliens. Now, for the debut of 20th Century Fox’s new film The Predator, Reebok has unveiled the DMX Run 10 ‘Predator’.
Inspired by the new film as well as the original, the shoe flaunts a shimmering lenticular camouflage material that mimics the Predator’s invisibility cloak. The classic Vector logo hits the top of the tongue while the yellow mesh gusset is a nod to the Predator’s non-combat attire.
Like many of Chris Hill’s designs, this shoe features tons of hidden details that fans will love. “Over here” and “turn around” are screen printed behind the tongues in the Predator’s native language while the transparent midsole is inscribed with military coordinates in handwritten red ink, another nod to covert ops.
“As a kid I was terrified of an invisible alien hunting me down and killing me because I knew there was absolutely no way of stopping him since I couldn’t see him,” Chris Hill, Design Manager of Statement Footwear at Reebok, told WearTesters. “That’s what inspired this shoe.”
However, if you get the 20th Century Fox x Reebok DMX Run 10 ‘Predator’ in a room and turn off the lights you’ll get another surprise: glow-in-the-dark graphics inspired by the film’s finale when water short-circuits the Predator’s operating system.
Final flourishes include a “spine trophy” hanging souvenir, unique gory insoles, and custom packaging that flaunts heatmap overlays, an homage to the Predator’s thermal-imaging vision. The box is even booby-trapped with hidden messages that will appeal to sci-fi fans and die-hard Predator nerds.
The 20th Century Fox x Reebok DMX Run 10 ‘Predator’ will retail for $200 and release on September 14 to coincide with the opening of The Predator.
