Tech Closet Episode 5 – ‘Lunar Foam’

I’ve briefly explain the benefits of foam cushion but never went in-depth… mostly because it takes a lot of time.

Luckily Just4Kicks212 has brought back the Tech Closet series with Episode 5 as he focuses on foam cushion, primarily Lunar Foam.

Hit the jump if you want to learn a few things and while you’re at it, let me know what your favorite type of cushion is and why.

  1. Lunarlon imo, it more absorbs impact rather repels impact like a zoom or airbag would, therefore it’s easier on your joints. Sure you lose some responsiveness but it molds to your foot and really has that step in comfort.

  2. My favorite basketball cushion is probably zoom air because of the responsiveness. That being said, I think the best cushioning out there is Asics gel systems. They have the perfect mix between cushion and responsiveness that I don’t think a foam or air system can match. Wish asics would expand their basketball line

  3. I’m sorry i was looking forward to watching this but stopped when i heard the N word dropped 3 times in 10 seconds…goodness

    1. Agreed. The actual info (great by the way) was overshadowed by the language and ridiculous presentation. (No homo? for real?)

  4. hey NightWing!

Have you heard about adidas new Boost Cushion?
    With the little foam bubbles?

They come in runners at the moment, and i tried them on and they were VERY comfortable.
Im excited to see how they get incorporated into basketball 🙂

  5. The Phylon is the support…the Lunarlon is lighter and softer. It’s just a combo…I’m guessing even better integration of the 2 materials will come on the Kobe IXs and other Nike shoes.

  6. Added more…Lunarlon was really invented for long distance running. It is amazing and light in my running shoes. A runner should NEVER land on his heel under any circumstance unless possibly hit by a passing car! People who over pronate or under pronate…are running incorrectly and should never have done so originally. Muscles and even bones can are effected by unnatural walking and running over one’s life. Then you favor bad form even more compounding the problem. If people ran correctly they would be able to “run” 1/10th of the distance they do. Someone who tells you they just ran 10 miles…really ran 1 mile equivalently (cardiovascularly and regarding muscle development and memory) and added to their bodies overall worsening. Unless you are being timed or being paid to complete a race in a given time…99.9% of people I see running would be better off taking a bus on their daily run instead of lacing them up. Lunarlon is great because it works for Good and Bad form runners is what Nike should have said. Like putting a 20 foot foam bumper on a car for shitty drivers along with adding a steering wheel and then a cushion for it…for good drivers. Lunarlon very slightly aids good runners and really helps bad runners. Basketball heel strikes are unavoidable…Lunarlon is better for it but not as durable and explosive as Phylon. So the mix is good.
