The Tech You Can Expect on the Under Armour Curry 3

While attending the Under Armour Curry 1 Lux pop-up shop presented by Foot Locker and Under Armour in downtown Oakland, Ca, we spotted the upcoming Curry 3 (low) on the Curry Product Line Manager’s feet.

Not only do the shoes look awesome in person, they also have some really nice tech features on them as well. We knew of the basic items that were visible from the jump; such as the carbon fiber support heel support panels, and herringbone traction, but the materials were unknown to us at the time. I was able to ask Curry’s PLM about the shoes and he had no problem filling us in on what the shoes offer.

The upper is what UA is calling Threadborne. Threadborne is an open knit material that is lightweight and durable. It allows for airflow while retaining support. There are heat-welded fuse sections in high-wear areas for added strength and support along the base and forefoot of the shoe. Something I though was awesome is the fact that they’re bringing back anaFoam. The medial section of the shoe is anaFoam — which made it’s debut on the Curry 1. It’s a lightweight and supportive material that will mold to the wearers foot. Being that this section is asymmetrical, it should help increase lockdown as well.

The pair you see here is a low top, but the first run will be mids. Curry will also be wearing the mid on-court, but we’ve seen that he enjoys practicing in lows. I was unable to confirm the cushion and price, but I believe Charged will makes its way back to the Curry line and the price we’ll just leave at the currently rumored $150.

I was already excited to play in the Under Armour Curry 3 as the traction alone looks awesome, but now that I know the materials I’m even more excited to try them out. They just might be the best Curry model to-date.

Let us know what you think of the Under Armour Curry 3, and the tech specs they will offer, and be sure to stay tuned for updates as they come.

  1. I hope they didn’t take the wrong turn and followed Nike’s path of increasing the price SIGNIFICANTLY.

    1. I like the look of it. It has a space military or future military tech to it lol. I don’t know, that just came to me when I saw it. But I likes it. Let’s just hope UA come out with some dope CW.

  2. Interested to hear more about these. Tough to beat the Curry 2 in fit and traction, but cushion could easily be upgraded. Aesthetically… whatever.

  3. My biggest gripe with the shoe is that huge heel counter (similar to the Hyperdunk 2015). Aesthetically, I don’t think it is worthy of a back-to-back MVP (coming from a Spurs fan). Also I don’t think I’ll be copping if the cushioning is Charged, because it is just not enough for me.
