This Thursday, at Supra’s flagship store in streetwear’s mecca, SoHo, the skating brand relaunched the Skytop III CD.
The Supra Skytop III originally launched in 2011 and brought a lot of “traditional” or mainstream Nike and Jordan sneakerheads into the Supra fold due its midtop build. While Chad Muska’s Skytop signature line is already on its fourth iteration, and gearing up for the fifth version that should arrive later this year, the III was a standout model.
“As with all the Skytops, I wanted to make something that stands out in our industry,” said Chad Muska. “The first Skytop was known for its height, and since we went even higher with the II, I wanted to mix things up with the Skytop III by bringing it down to a mid-top and switching from a vulcanized sole to a cup.”
According to Supra, the new style builds upon elements of the past shoe like the SUPRAFOAM midsole set atop a molded rubber outsole and updates the TPR cage with a thin lightweight cage with laser cuts. The laser cut design language unites many of the Supra silhouettes. The tongue has also been revised to shed some weight. There is a photo of the original III at the bottom of this post.
The Supra Skytop III CD is available now from Supra in three colorways — Red – Red, Black / Charcoal – White, and White/Black – White — for $100 each. To purchase click here. Sizes are disappearing. You can also cop in store at these Supra locations:
