Sorry to disappoint you, but the Nike Hyperdunk 2017 won’t be available for awhile.

As for tech specs, this year’s Hyperdunk is packing an engineered woven jacquard upper (with a “Flyknit-inspired look”), 1/2-bootie construction, a new Lunar cushioning system, and a solid rubber outsole that utilizes a circular multi-directional traction pattern. The outsole looks anatomically engineered, and the jacquard is well-ventilated at the forefoot.

The Nike Hyperdunk 2017 High will retail for $140 while the Low will retail for $130. There has been no price increase since the Hyperdunk 2016.

Now, we play the waiting game. What do you think of the specs and price? Let us know in the comments.

  1. They actually look good to me and can look even better with other color ways. I’m just disappointed in the 2016 cushion being abandoned. They had something with that and who knows if it’ll ever come back with how Nike is. That trampoline effect/cored out zoom was so good. It brought about a true zoom experience without a risk of unlocked popping that can happen in other setups. It damn near rivaled the KD9. This upper and that zoom setup would have been just ridiculous. With that being said, I hope that this new lunar is good but it just could have been off the charts with the 2016 zoom setup IMHO.

    1. Was the cushioning the same in the 2016 flynit and regular version? If not, which version are you referring to? The flynit version’s cushioning?

I’d like to know as I’d like to try and track down a pair.

      1. I didn’t get to try the flyknit version Ice. I know that one was full length. The one that I got was the regular version with heel and forefoot zoom. It actually felt really good under foot.

  2. With the line coming back to lunar, so goes my interest. Lunar bottoms out too fast, and even when its new its not as good as boost, bounce, jetlon, or micro g. Its fine for NBA players who get a new pair every game, but for the average baller who needs this to last a few months its not ideal. They would have to improve its durability and feel by a lot to truly call this improved. Better off picking up the 2016 with a nice zoom setup for less than 80 bucks over the summer.

  3. The lows look so sexy, imo. The woven upper looks so comfortable. While it does bottom out fairly quickly, I actually like lunar. They stated that they were “changing” the way they did lunar, so maybe the lunar won’t bottom out so fast. In terms of the mid/high, it looks like they lowered the back compared to the 2016’s. Which is a good thing because the 2016’s were pretty high and they were damn near impossible to get on my feet. The booty design didn’t help with that either. It looks like the lacing system has changed too, which is also a good thing because the lacing system on the 2016’s were horrendous. Overall, I’m looking forward to the 2017’s.

  4. They look great and if Nike’s jacquard is anything like Adidas’ Lillard 2 jacquard they’ll definitely be comfortable.

  5. I will agree with what others said in that I wish they left the cushioning alone, like they did with the KD 10. The Hyperdunk 2016’s cushioning is great. That said, I’m excited for the 2017 upper, which looks like it will be an improvement. It’s all going to come down to traction, which was adequate but nothing great on the ’16. If this is top notch traction, I’ll probably get a pair. If not, I’ll probably skip these as I still have the 16’s and they still get some use.

  6. Too expensive, should be less than the signature shoes.
Like $100-110 & most signature are $120-140 base.

Question – with all the man made materials (non leather uppers) is the shoe actually less expensive in actual cost? Is Nike Tech(?) making them more money with cheaper parts & a higher retail?

    1. I believe it’s cheaper to manufacture with the woven/textile uppers. The manufacturing is all automated until they begin to put the shoe together. Saves them a lot of time and man hours vs having to die-cut sheets of leather and making sure as much of the sheet is used as to not waste raw materials. I’m sure the R&D was expensive as hell though. So right now the margins might be similar to that of leather shoes. However, it’ll only get more cost effective as time goes on.

      1. You’re absolutely right, it’s much cheaper(woven/textile is a cheaper resource, and it has much less waste), and R&D was cheap too, they simply adapted the heads of 3D-knitters, and Jacquard machines, which have been around for decades(in Sneaker-companies too, to knit the socks), so it’s not a new-technology, it’s a different application of an old-technique.

Technically they should already be cheaper than leather-shoes, the pricing is very much to sell the ‘innovation’ advertisement, which is very normal, new-applications are always priced high to create hype.

  7. I am definitely looking forward to this shoe. I love the minimal look, and am guessing that with all the great cushion setups out there nike should be capable of coming up with something competitive for the new lunar!

  8. Love that they dont look like hoop shoes, will make the off-court wear much more versatile.

Only question is gonna be lockdown in the heel, and most importantly the traction. Looks similar to the KD 10 and if Nightwing’s early impressions mean anything it doesn’t look too good. Would’ve been a cool twist if they had just put the Kobe 9 bottom on since its a proven concept, but i guess that makes too much sense

  9. While it will be interesting to see how this “new” lunar is, I don’t think it will be anywhere near where other foams are. Its time for Nike to start from scratch. Lunar has been flawed since the beginning.
