Reigning Champ, long-time collaborators with adidas Athletics, has unveiled another minimalist PureBoost.
The latest Reigning Champ x adidas Athletics FW17 collection is inspired by obsidian, a natural glass formed by the rapid cooling of lava from a volcano. Thus, the new PureBoost uses a Primeknit upper with a custom pattern that fades from toe to heel to mimic the glass. Soft synthetic suede flaunting the Reigning Champ logo hits the heel caps while the insoles have “a soft leather feel,” according to adidas.
The apparel collection includes tights, pants, tees, pullovers, hoodies, jackets, and a winterized weekender bag. According to adidas, the collection is inspired by the color nuance of obsidian glass. Primeknit apparel, Jacquard fleece, and winterized down jackets flesh out this cold-weather collection; the Jacquard fleece uses woven overlays for durability, while the down jackets are lined with a flexible waterproof fabric for added protection.
A brand new version of Primeknit was developed for this collection. It utilizes insulated wool yarns for warmth and feel, but adidas did not say anything else about it.
The Reigning Champ x adidas PureBoost retails for $160 and will launch on October 7 at adidas.com, select adidas stores, Reigning Champ online, Reigning Champ flagship stores, and select fashion boutiques.
The apparel ranges from $45 to $250 and will launch globally on October 6 at the retailers above.
