Online menswear retailer JackThreads and Reebok have dropped the first of a three-part collaborative series. The Reebok x JackThreads Daily Classic Nylon is a retro athletic sneaker re-interpreted for modern causal wear.
The Classic Nylon was introduced in 1987 as a performance running shoe. Now, the shoe has been upgraded with pigskin suede, a more durable material, but retains its traditional nylon pieces.
When asked why JackThreads is working with Reebok, Michael Vincent, JackThreads’ Non-Apparel Merchandise Manager responded:
“Reebok has a strong heritage that hasn’t been explored in full. For us, the best way to tell that story is to partner with the brand, so we came up with a three-part series. It’s about a bigger program, not just these two updates to the Classic Nylon.
“If you’re calling a shoe a classic, it should be timeless and seasonless. So, in coloring up these shoes, we wanted them to be highly wearable, no matter what you’re wearing, and no matter the season. So you can pair them with shorts or chinos, and then going into fall, they’ll work with cropped wool pants and sweaters. They’ll look good and feel relevant, no matter what.”
When asked about the upcoming Reebok x JackThreads projects, Vincent said: “As we look ahead to the second drop later this year, it’s going to be a little more forward, and the third shoe will be more neutral again. The goal is to make sure that we’re taking care of every guy — that there’s something for everyone.” (JackThreads)
Each Daily Classic Nylon JackThreads created takes a different approach; the grey uses a neutral palette while the navy showcases subtle color play. Both shoes flaunt the JackThreads signature Orange.com color on the lace tips and insoles, while the outsole of the navy shoe gets treated to the color.
Both Reebok x JackThreads Daily Classic Nylons are available now at JackThreads.com for $75 each. Let us know which colorway you prefer in the comments below.
