Reebok has unveiled its newest innovative material, Flexweave, a versatile new textile that can be produced using an unlimited array of different fabrics.
To show just how versatile Flexweave is, Reebok enlisted world-renowned Savile Row tailor Huntsman & Sons. Both brands will work together to create a bespoke garment, made-to-measure for American super star football WR Brandin Cooks, made entirely from Reebok Flexweave.
Flexweave, the latest material from the Reebok Innovation Collective, uses a figure-8 weave structure that can interlock different individual fibers — it’s what sets it apart from other textiles the Huntsman tailors have worked with.
“The openness of the weave, the varying thickness of warp and weft yarns and the springiness of the fabric,” said Campbell Carey, Huntsman Head Cutter and Creative Director.
The Reebok x Huntsman project will conclude in February 2018; after months of experimentation and testing in the workshop, Huntsman will deliver the suit to Brandin Cooks. For now, we have some prospective sketches on the style and cut of the prototype garment.
