The Nike Air Foamposite One is actually some people’s favorite shoe to hoop in… I can’t say I share their enthusiasm at this point.
Heel lockdown is horrible. The shoe itself is pretty heavy on-court but add the flopping heel into the equation and you get one of the most annoying fits I’ve ever experienced.
Even using a runner’s loop won’t solve anything. I may end up re-lacing these altogether… reversed lacing where your knot is at the toe instead of the ankle… if that doesn’t solve the heel issue then nothing will.
The Foamposite shell is stiff, it’s still not broken in yet and it almost feels as if I will never get them to that point. Having the double last midsole is addition to the stiff upper is like trying to run with bricks attached to your feet.
I’m almost positive that the flex issue is due to my size and weight. While larger players may experience the same issues at first, it may not last as long as someone of my size. If you are a small Guard, don’t even think about playing in a pair of Foamposite’s unless you enjoy the longest break-in period you’ve ever encountered.

Ha ha break in time aint a good period, period.
Glad I didnt cop!
Keep up the good work, I liked your in court addition starting the 2012 Hyperdunks review.
Easiest way for me to speed up the break-in period for the Foams has been wearing them around the house for a few hours a day. It helps them mold to your feet. Still won’t fix the heel lockdown, pretty sure nothing will, but it does help them feel less bulky while playing.
Thats what I do already… I dont remember my other Foams taking this long though.
you could put em in a dryer for a little bit, that’s what i do when my shoe needs a lot iof break in time, with like a blanket though and you’ll be good.
I would never do that lol. Too affraid the glue would separate.
you could always use a blow dryer to heat the inside of them…
I kinda figured these to be shoes for fashion instead of playability anyway.
I wouldnt say that at all. These were made for basketball, period. They may not be the best for hoops but they are a hoop shoe before anything else.
once they break in the flexibility will improve
I’m curious on how the reverse lacing would turn out, if it works or not.
Anyway, keep up the good work & hope you don’t get injured playing in these.
lol, finally found a typing error by nightwing, second last line, don’t even thing about playing in a pair of. thing should be think.
Thanks for the heads up
Hey Nightwing always loking forward to your reviews. In fact I snagged both of your top two performance shoes in 2011! (Fly Wade 2 and Q flight) When are you getting around to the Nike+ review? Still debating whether to cop the hypderdunk 2012 or not. Thanks!
The HD 2012 is a great shoe. The Nike+ version isnt needed as stated in the review… its more of something you want to have but dont need to have.
Hey nightwing! This is off topic but how do
You feel about shooting sleeves? Do you wear them?
If so how does it benefit you?
