New Balance’s customization service, NB1, is bringing back a fan-favorite: perforated suede accents.
Customers will once again be able to bless their 998 creations with perforated suede at the toebox and ankle collar. With a much larger color palette and many more ways to customize, the perforated option can bring a custom to the next level. And make you feel like Ronnie Fieg. However, it’ll cost you $200.
While I’ve never actually ordered any of my customs from NB1, but it’s by far my favorite customization service of the lot. The downside is that there are far fewer silhouettes you can work on — there are only five, and two of the models are cleats. However, the classics are present: the 574, the 998, and the 990v3. (The 998 is a devilishly handsome sneaker that I try to get all of the older gentlemen I know in — I love them.)
You can start customizing on NB1 now here. We’d love to see what people create so use the hashtag #WearTesters.
