Past Designs Collide on the Nike Dunk High SB ‘What The Doernbecher’

Continuing the trend of Nike SB retroing past Dunk colorways into high/low top alternatives, Nike today unveiled the Nike Dunk High SB ‘What The Doernbecher’.

Much like the Nike Dunk Low SB ‘What The’ that released in 2007, this high top version takes past SB designs and attaches them onto one Frankenstein of a shoe. This time, Nike will take the 13 Nike SB Doernbecher colorways that have released in the last 11 years of the program and combine them onto a Dunk High.

A few examples of design elements include Finn Mooney’s stitched swoosh that represents his heart surgery. Ricky Rudd’s love of baseball is exemplified on one of the toe-boxes, and Lance Dillon’s mantras are laser etched onto the other toe-box.

Even the box gets special treatment, being made out of recycled skateboard decks. Inside the box top features what appears to be all the past DB x Nike SB designers.

The Nike Dunk High SB ‘What The Doernbecher’ will receive a limited run of 11 pairs to be auctioned off on eBay starting June 11th. One of each size from 8-12, 13 and 14 will be auctioned off each day in a 10-day period, with profits going directly to the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Oregon.

In case you were wondering, OHSU Doernbecher will announce the six patients selected to design this year’s 12th-annual collection later in the month. The 2015 Doernbecher Freestyle Collection will be officially unveiled on October 23.

Update: Every size can be found at this LINK.
