For You Outdoor Ballers, the ANTA KT 2 Outdoor

anta kt 2 outdoor 2

The most asked question on WearTesters.com is a version of “Can I play in these outdoors?” The answer is generally, “You can, but they won’t last.” Well, it looks like ANTA is trying to take care of all you outdoor ballers — Philippines stand up — with a new version of its Klay Thomspon signature shoe: the ANTA KT 2 Outdoor.

This new outdoor version, spotted online, loses its knit heel portion and replaces it with fuse. Some colorways of the KT 2, like the ‘Make It Rain’ colorway (seen on Thompson’s feet during the preseason), utilize translucent outsoles. While we don’t yet have images of the outsoles of the Anta KT 2 Outdoor, the outdoor variants trade the translucent outsole for solid rubber. There is no official word yet on whether the solid rubber used on KT 2 colorways is a different compound than the rubber used on the KT 2 Outdoor colorways.

Of course, we still have no word on when this shoe is arriving Stateside. For now, enjoy the four ANTA KT 2 Outdoor colorways below.

  1. Just hope it performs,

We all know shoes take much much more beating if you play outdoors compared to indoor play,

Next is the price, hope it’s affordable.

  2. I’m one of those “Can I play in these outdoors?” guys. Many times I’ve wanted a shoe, but then felt the rubber on the outsole, and was like “Nope, not gonna happen.” Every shoe should have an outdoor version with some hard rubber compound. I think it would be a sound business decision. So many outdoor ballers around the world would appreciate it.

      1. Yeah man. All it takes is a change of rubber for two or three cws, and I really believe it’ll push more product for the company. Around the world, I would think the percentage of outdoor ballers is higher than indoor. Probably by a lot. Unless its the Lebron Ambassador, most outdoor-tailored offerings from companies are budget and lack good cushioning. We want an outdoor Crazy Explosive or KD9.

        1. Yes, most of the outdoor friendly options all suck in cushion which is backwards. You’d kind of think that ppl need decent cushion if there are playing outdoors on concrete and asphalt. Then again, I guess they’re thinking, “Hey, if it burns down fast then they have to buy more.” Who knows.

          1. I think that companies assume that outdoor ballers=poor, so they make bare bones budget shoes for the outdoor market. The thing is I don’t think those shoes sell very well. We just look at them, see that the cushioning sucks, and don’t even consider them.

Many outdoor ballers will shell out for a nice outdoor shoe with good cushioning. How about this: instead of a new outdoor model, they make something like the Crazy Explosive: Outdoor Edition. Same shoe, but with Continental or Adiwear rubber and some fat, deep traction on the outsole. Some strong fuse on high-wear areas on the upper, and generally dark colors since they’ll get scuffed up. No minuses on the tech, just a tougher version of a great shoe. It already has name recognition and is on feet on NBA players, so it’ll sell better than some random budget shoe that has buyers going “Whats that?”

  3. Kaway kaway!

The Philippines also gets a lot of good performers, sometimes before everyone else too, (Peak, Anta, etc.) and some stay on the clearance shelves for long.

If only more and more Filipinos would look beyond the logo of a shoe, they wouldn’t have to settle for those “Nike NMDs”
