MONSTARS IS BACK! Well, that’s the motto Jordan Brand is going with, particularly with the 20th anniversary of the movie ‘Space Jam’ now upon us. Those who are quick to say that this retro is identical to the last ‘Space Jam’ Jordans might want to take a closer look because this 2016 version features some minor differences.
It’s been just seven years since the last retro release of the Black/Concord/White colorway. The 2016 version flaunts the number 45 (MJ’s return to court from retirement jersey number) at the heel, instead of 23, and also flips the Jumpman logo to it now faces towards the toebox. The insole also features the words “Nike Air” with a swoosh rather than the Jumpman logo.
Of course, much of the shoe hasn’t changed; this XI is still constructed using the signature patent leather (which may actually be premium this time) surrounding the midfoot with ballistic mesh along the upper. The usual translucent outsole is still here, along with the visible Concord traction pods and a white Jumpman.
These will no doubt be a hit, thanks to Tinker. The shoe releases on December 10 for a price of $220 and will be available at Nike.com, along with the new Nike+ app, and select retailers. Nightwing2303 actually posted a detailed look at this sneaker weeks ago so I’ve included it below.
In the meantime, what do you think of the “new” Air Jordan 11 Retro ‘Space Jam’? Are you hoping Jordan Brand makes enough pairs for everyone to cop? Are you excited to see the number 45 on the back of the shoe rather than the 23?
