For those of you too young to remember (probably 99% of you), Nike ACG started as a sort of one-off project in the ’90s that catered to hikers and outdoors sports enthusiasts. Taking the base of established runners, materials like Gore-Tex and thick rubber toecaps were added to make footwear more durable and ready for trouble.
Now, 20+ years later, Nike ACG is a well-established and vital part of the Nike empire. To fully embrace the line, Nike has opened NikeLAB CHI today at 669 N. Michigan Avenue in Chicago. The futuristic and minimalist design of the store is influenced by the straps and ruggedness of the ACG line, while also paying respect to a city environment that, actually, most of the gear is worn in (Chicago is no joke in the winter).
Featured for the release is one of the dopest hikers ever seen — the Nike Zoom Tallac Flyknit ($275). Flyknit in winter may not make sense, but no denying the look is beast, and with a Zoom units at the heel and forefoot, casual comfort should be on point.
Check the pics below, along with the official Nike words, and let us know if you plan on checking out the store. Is ACG gear on your radar this winter?
Located on the top floor of Nike Chicago, the new NIKELAB CHI store opens with the highly anticipated release of the NikeLab ACG outerwear collection, which offers advanced weather protection, seamless integration with past and future ACG apparel and adaptable elements like interior strap systems and adjustable collars.
Drawing inspiration from the ACG collection itself, the interior of the eighth NikeLab store globally was specifically designed to showcase sport style in the Windy City. Hanging display racks open up the space and nod directly to the strap systems of the NikeLab ACG Alpine Jacket, System Blazer and Funnel Hoody.
NIKELAB CHI opens December 2 at 669 N Michigan Ave.
