If you don’t know already, the Nike Zoom LeBron Ambassador series has been nothing but a hit. We now get a glimpse of an upcoming colorway, the ‘Kay Yow’, that honors Sandra Kay Yow, an American basketball coach legend who is one of seven women’s head coaches to achieve 700+ career victories in a collegiate level — that’s a hell of a lot of Ws.Although the shoe is only available overseas, that hasn’t deterred our team from getting our hands on a pair and putting them through rigorous testing (ICYMI: NYJumpman23’s Nike Zoom LeBron Ambassador Performance Review). The Kay Yow colorway represents not only her extraordinary coaching career but the Cancer foundation dedicated to cancer research.
The shoe features a pink upper mesh along with fuse at high-wear areas along the toebox and medial side. The midfoot to heel features a lighter shade of pink along the foam-filled meshed areas at the ankle area. The shoe is finished off with a rubber heel counter, unique Kay Yow Cancer Foundation branded insoles, and Kay Yow ribbon at the tongue. The shoe also features XDR Rubber traction outsole to go along with Zoom Air cushion in the heel and forefoot. Not only does the shoe perform, but it represents a bigger message.
The release date on these is still TBD but for a price of $125, with all the tech and its stellar performance, the shoe is practically a steal. Don’t you wish these were coming Stateside?
What do you think of the Ambassador 9 being added to the Kay Yow lineup? Would you consider copping? And remember, “When life kicks you, let it kick you forward.”
