Minnesota will play host to the 2018 WNBA All-Star Game tomorrow and thus, Nike has created six purple PEs for some of the game’s best players.
According to Nike, purple is the color of royalty, the color of Minnesota’s football team, and the color of its musical hero Prince, and as such, the color is used throughout the 2018 WNBA All-Star Game PE collection.
The graphic white and purple ripple pattern used on these Nike Basketball silhouettes is a nod to the state’s numerous lakes, as well as the waves being created in the modern women’s game, according to Nike. Additionally, the two-toned look is an homage to the state’s Twin Cities, Minneapolis and Saint Paul.
“The All-Star shoes are fire across the board,” said four-time WNBA champion Seimone Augustus of the Minnesota Lynx in a statement. “I can’t wait to wear the Kyrie 4 and pay tribute to the land of 10,000 lakes.”
While the 2018 WNBA All-Star Game PE collection includes unique colorways of the LeBron 15, LeBron Soldier 12, KD 11, Kyrie 4, PG 2, and Kobe A.D., there is no official word regarding a retail release for these shoes. We will update you if anything changes.
