Nike Sample Spotted Online May Reveal What’s Next for the Hyperdunk Line

Nike-hyperdunk-x-sample-1

It appears that the Nike Hyperdunk may pick up where the 2016 model left off rather than the 2017.

A sample size 9 pair of Nike sneakers labeled as the ‘Hyperdunk X Low TB’ have appeared — and sold — on eBay. The sample claims to represent the tenth anniversary of the Hyperdunk line, which debuted in 2008.

Aesthetically, this pair is reminiscent of the standard Nike Hyperdunk 2016 and the exposed Flywire straps and ventilation system it implemented on the medial side, but images show this pair will utilize that system on both sides of the sneaker.

Also, the cushioning system appears to flaunt the return of both forefoot and heel Zoom units which was last seen on the Hyperdunk 2016. There is no indication of a React foam carrier in this pair, and although the Hyperdunk React 2017 was popular on NBA courts, the React cushion implemented in that model did not quite receive high praise by our WearTesters.

Additionally, the pair features a combination of materials, but mostly what looks to be mesh, fuse reinforcements, and a modified herringbone traction pattern that may focus on lateral movements.

What are your thoughts on this Nike Hyperdunk sample? If this is where Nike goes to celebrate 10 years of the Hyperdunk series, are you here for it? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. Cushion looks fantastic, as does the traction. The heel on the upper looks reminiscent of that knit adidas used on the Harden 1. If these are anything like the 2016 they will be beastly

  2. Looks like it’ll play like the 2016s but with a better upper. I would’ve liked to see them try react again, but uncage it more so we can actually feel it. This zoom setup isn’t bad, though, so it should be solid. If they have a full length version again, I would like to see them expose it more on the bottom like the original Hyperrev; that zoom was savage.

  3. For me, this is a knock-off. Materials don’t impress me and innovation seems lacking. Nike could’ve nailed this one if they combined Zoom and React. For me that setup will be very, very and I mean very sick. Wishing (Again, W-I-S-H-I-N-G) they make a setup with the React carrying Zoom bags in heel and forefoot and with carbon fiber material for stability and support. Its up to Nike how can they innovate this
