Nike and founder of the apparel brand Undercover have partnered to redefine running wear. The Holiday 2016 NikeLab x Gyakusou collection notably reflects Nike’s approach to transformative design, as select items are designed to reduce distraction by being easily packable. Each NikeLab Gyakusou collection builds upon the last, blending Nike innovation with Takahashi’s creative and athletic sensibilities.
The Holiday 2016 NikeLab Gyakusou collection equips runners to maintain their strides during the dark, wet and cold days of winter. It employs innovative Nike technologies, such as AeroReact and Aeroloft, and introduces Quickburst® zipper construction for the first time in Nike apparel. Takahashi’s signature aesthetic, highlighted by an unexpected blend of colors, is present throughout.
NikeLab Gyakusou Packable Jacket: The NikeLab Gyakusou Packable Jacket is a lightweight performance running jacket that equips athletes to train during the wet and dark months of winter. Its water-repellent surface is adorned by elements that offer reflectivity, including the pattern on the sleeves and Gyakusou logo on the chest. The jacket reflects Nike’s approach to transformative design, as it can be packed into a pouch for easy storage and transportation.
NikeLab Gyakusou Track Jacket: Representing a subtle departure from the typical performance running silhouettes delivered in the NikeLab Gyakusou collaboration, the NikeLab Gyakusou Track Jacket provides athletes with a sport style option for those moments before and after a run. Articulated knit sleeves feature laser-cut ventilation for added breathability and a heathered treatment for a refined aesthetic. The reflective print that runs down the sleeves is inspired by tattoos Jun Takahashi has on his arms. Together, the jacket and the NikeLab Gyakusou Track Pants deliver a modern interpretation of the classic tracksuit.
NikeLab Gyakusou Zipoff Aeroloft Jacket: The body of the NikeLab Gyakusou Zipoff Aeroloft Jacket features Nike Aeroloft technology, which delivers warmth while also enabling thermoregulation. It achieves this by retaining heat until the body begins to produce its own; once that occurs, excess heat and moisture is driven from the garment through strategically placed laser-cut perforations.
NikeLab Gyakusou Zipoff Aeroloft Jacket: The sleeves employ Quickburst® zipper technology, which enable the runner to effortlessly remove the sleeves, transforming the jacket to a vest. The back pocket is large enough to store the sleeves, allowing the runner to continue his or her run with zero distraction.
NikeLab Gyakusou AeroReact ½ Zip Hoodie: The NikeLab Gyakusou Aeroreact ½ Zip Hoodie employs Nike AeroReact technology, a responsive, lightweight fabric developed with insights from the Nike Explore Team Sport Research Lab. AeroReact is uniquely engineered to adapt to changes in a runner’s temperature. The textile’s bicomponent yarn senses moisture vapor and opens its structure to maximize breathability. The garment’s hood delivers coverage and its back pocket provides secure storage.
NikeLab Gyakusou Dri-FIT Tee: The NikeLab Gyakusou Dri-FIT Utility Tights combines the storage and modesty of a short and the compression of a tight. Nike Dri-FIT fabric works to keep the athlete dry and comfortable, while a quick pack pocket on the back panel of the garment enables easy storage of the runner’s jacket. The tights also feature a lightweight and breathable Nike FlyVent waistband.
NikeLab Gyakusou FlyVent Shorts: Featuring a lightweight and breathable Nike FlyVent waistband, the NikeLab Gyakusou FlyVent Shorts incorporate laser-cut perforations and Dri-FIT material to help keep the runner cool and comfortable.
NikeLab Gyakusou Dri-FIT Power Speed Tights: The popular Nike Dri-FIT Power Speed Tight is adorned with Jun Takahashi’s signature aesthetic. The tights are designed to provide compression, especially in key muscle areas such as the hip, thigh and calf, helping athletes feel locked in for their runs.
NikeLab Gyakusou LunarEpic Flyknit: The shoe features a new water-resistant Flyknit upper and traction-enhancing outsole, helping athletes complete longer runs in challenging weather conditions.
The Holiday 2016 NikeLab Gyakusou is available beginning November 10 on NikeLab Online and at select NikeLab stores.
