The Nike Kyrie 4 ‘Uncle Drew’ Will Release Before Irving’s On-Screen Debut in “Uncle Drew”

While Kyrie Irving unveiled a Kyrie 4 ‘Wheaties’ ahead of the Uncle Drew movie, this is the Kyrie 4 ‘Unlce Drew’ we’ll actually be able to buy — and it’s releasing just in time for the film.

As Kyrie Irving’s silver screen debut nears on June 29, we’ve got an official look at the Kyrie 4 ‘Uncle Drew’. Known around the basketball world as the most well-rounded Kyrie model to date, this particular build features a full white engineered mesh upper — a departure from colorways that used a suede-like material in the heel panel. There is also a speckle on the midsole that wraps around the heel and transitions to white at the beginning of the gum teeth at the midfoot.

With previous models in the Kyrie line known for minimal cushion with ultimate court feel, the Kyrie 4 attempts to rectify that by adding Cushlon in the forefoot while keeping the heel Zoom unit. Having a gum bottom should help with traction on any court condition.

The Nike Kyrie 4 ‘White/Gum’, also known as the ‘Uncle Drew,’ is set to drop on June 23 for $120. You can grab a pair in a range of sizes over at Eastbay.com on release date (pictured here is the GS build).

  1. If the releases up to this point were all a single build on the upper like these, I would own a pair. The suede/mesh combo always felt disjointed to me. That’s been my only dislike of the shoe. These seem fluid and flow better.

    1. I would agree. Having two different materials on the upper isn’t a good feeling for me either.
