April 13 marks Mamba Day, a day for celebration of all things Kobe Bryant. In just a week, expect to see a handful of Nike Basketball releases that will honor the day, including a Nike Kobe 1 Protro ‘Mamba Day’.
We previously reported on the shoe a few days ago; an image surfaced online of the heel showing the date 4.13.18 — the date of Kobe’s final NBA game, in which he scored 60 points. Indeed, the day marks two years since Kobe’s retirement, and it is also Mamba Day, which calls for a celebration of Kobe’s time in the National Basketball Association.
The pair is murdered out in black with a leather upper and what appears to be a suede toe rand. Touches of gold can be seen at the Swoosh, the Kobe logo on the tongues, the “XX” detailing on the laces, and on the heel stitching of 4.13.18. The insoles feature Kobe graphics.
The Nike Kobe 1 Protro ‘Mamba Day’ will be available in limited numbers on Mamba Day, April 13, for $175.
