The Nike Future Court is the Next Kids-Specific Basketball Shoe

Nike Basketball has renewed its focus on young hoopers with the kids-specific Nike Future Court basketball shoe.

First came the Nike Future Flight and now we have the Nike Future Court, the brand’s second kids-specific performance basketball shoe. Sporting lightweight textiles and fuse welds, the Future Court appears to focus on simplicity and function over gimmicks.

The shoes tooling is built similarly to a Kyrie with the rounded tooling but it will function more like the Nike Future Flight. That model allowed the rounded tooling to compress with each step for greater court feel and cushion without being too soft/firm under the developing feet of young athletes.

A small feature that I love is the addition of nylon lace cables located at the forefoot and ankle flex zone. These two cables will allow the wearer to draw the forefoot and heel into the rear of the shoe and on the footbed. That maximizes support and mobility without restricting natural motion.

The Nike Future Court retails for $70, $20 less than the $90 Nike Future Flight. The two colorways shown below are available now at FinishLine.com while Nike.com offers a simple Black/White version.

  1. Interesting. Honestly I wouldn’t mind an adult size shoe of this, just to see how that forefoot flex around the ball of the foot feels. That seems like something that could work well for court feel and quick motions, but I don’t think has ever been tried before.

  2. I like this idea. Something gears towards kid hoopers that isn’t a stripped down version of an adult shoe. I might get my son a pair when the sales start coming around.
