The upcoming Nike Foamposite One ‘Gone Fishing’ looks to take a shoe related to basketball nets, to associating the hoops shoe with fish nets.
This is quite literal, with a fish net included in the packaging to this eccentric Foam release. The upper of the shoe consists of the typical black nubuck and the atypical iridescent Foamposite material that is made to imitate the sheen of fish scales. The outsole hasn’t changed much over the last few years, featuring another translucent blue sole.
The Foamposite One model first released in 1997 as a signature shoe for Penny Hardaway. The silhouette was designed by Eric Avar, who also went on to design Penny’s first official sneaker in the Air Penny 1. The shoe initially cost quite a bit to produce, with expensive molds needed to form the futuristic looking upper.
The Nike Foamposite One ‘Gone Fishing’ is set to release on Saturday, June 27 for $250.
