Nike FlyKnit Mask by Zhijun Wang

FlyknitMask_04The Nike FlyKnit Mask by Zhijun Wang is something truly great. A designer and craftsman, Wang has repurposed a Nike FlyKnit sneaker into a mask for runners! Aimed at protecting the city runner from pollution, it fits comfortably over the face and is secured, you guessed it, by the FlyKnit’s shoe laces! This is simply brilliant. Whether the FlyKnit’s knit upper and neoprene will protect from harmful pollutants like benzene and diesel, I’m not so sure, but this is one of the best things I’ve seen on the Internet in a while. Scroll down to view some start-to-finish photos and let us know what you think about this idea in the comments below or on Twitter or Instagram!

  1. Wait what? You use the laces from the flynit shoes for this flynit mask which is used for running…

  2. Given that China has a high level of PM2.5 overall, these probably won’t protect runners from pollution as the particle sizes are only 2.5 micrometers in diameters or smaller. Those perforations on the bottom just look to big. now if there is a backing, who knows? But overall great idea.

  3. i’m confused.. the site is supposed to be “kicksoncourt”, … not “sneakernews”, “nicekicks”, “kicksonfire” etc… it was then about performance of sneakers… particularly hoop shoes or anything related to basketball… hey nw… i think articles should be filtered… just my 2 cents…

    1. I wasn’t going to say anything until I felt it was time to do so but I’ll address this once right now. My site will be changing soon. Not in a bad way and there will not be any less focus on basketball shoes but branching off and adding more content with more categories written by new authors. I will personally be taking care of the basketball performance field but there will be others taking care of other sports which is something that I am proud of.

All I ask is that you do not question my decisions and that you respect the site as its my passion. I work ridiculous hours for you guys without you ever having to put in anything other than the time it takes you to read/ watch. I have never asked anything of you and have only appreciated your presence here.

Enjoy the content that you wish to enjoy, if there is an article that you don’t want to read then simply do not read it.

Thanks for your continued support and I hope everyone here will embrace the change instead of fear it.

      1. All respects NW and to all authors of this site…

First, you have to understand that no disclaimers were published until now thus gave my honest opinion on these.

Second, I did not question your decision on my comment. (This may be a statement for all the other guys so i will not comment anything more)

Third, I have been a frequent visitor of your site thus i had these questions. Having spending time reading your site means that I respect your site and that includes your reviews and you as well.

I have to be clear on this… You have on some occasions said that to consider in writing comments, you barely know the emotion of the author. You have to understand that goes for us too.

        Peace.

        1. I understand completely, thats why I responded to you filling you in. Otherwise I’d have just ignored it. I appreciate your support and I wanted to be up front with you, I just wasnt ready to announce anything at this time since things are 100% in place yet. Thanks!

  4. No offense Noah… i appreciate you helping NW with the articles… But keep the site REAL… If you get what I mean.. Peace..

    1. Because ballers never run outside to stay in shape…? You complain about extra content, you’d probably be in tears if NW took 2 weeks off of the site for vacation. Fkn kids

  5. I’d like to remind Mr. goolaman that if I am writing on this site it is because Chris has allowed me to do so. Mr. Goolaman has also, on multiple occasions, wrongly commented on articles that were not written by Nightwing, addressing him as the author.

    1. Noah, all respects…

I did gave a disclaimer that i meant no offense…

but your comment: “Mr. Goolaman has also, on multiple occasions, wrongly commented on articles that were not written by Nightwing, addressing him as the author.”

Can you give me a link of that article that I “wrongly commented” “on multiple occasions” on an article not written by NW?

  6. Hey Noah, not to kill the excitement but you have seen those new breathing simulators right? Its like the Bane mask (looks funny) but it helps athletes simulate the effects on training in low oxygen atmospheres for better performance and it has levels of resistance for which probably goes back to the simulating low oxygen atmospheres.

It is called the Elevation Training Mask.

  7. if you live in china running outside might not be a great idea. going outside at all w/o a gas mask is a questionable decision. the fact that someone came up w/ this speaks to how unhealthy that “air” is

  8. @Cody Haha “the Bane mask” that was hilarious man! Yes I actually have some friends who climb in Bolivia an have recently purchased masks that perform a function similar to what you are describing. The natives of that area, when climbing the mountains, chew and suck on the leaves of the coca plant. This raises their heartrate and helps get more oxygen into their system. Unfortunately, my friends are not natives and have purchased masks similar to what you have described. A “Bane mask” haha hopefully they don’t sound like Bane with the masks on!
