Nike Confirms Russell Westbrook and Giannis Antetokounmpo Signature Shoes

Nike CEO Mark Parker recently confirmed the company’s desire to release signature shoe lines for NBA’s reigning MVP Russell Westbrook and rising superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, while increasing Antetokounmpo’s promotion.

In the midst of a 10-year extension with Nike’s Jordan Brand, Westbrook is among the league’s most vibrant personalities — from his fashion sense to his on-court ferocity. As the face of the brand, expect Westbrook to have a signature line that matches his flamboyant and colorful personality.

Antetokounmpo also extended his Nike contract earlier in the year; with his marketability and on court performance soon approaching peak status, Nike will look to capture the Greek Freak’s stardom with a signature shoe around the 2018-2019 NBA season.

With two of the best players in the NBA at its disposal, Nike’s future looks bright.

What do you think of Nike’s decision to anchor part of the brand’s future around Westbrook and Antetokounmpo? Let us know in the comment section below.

    1. Jordan already said that they’re not putting out anymore sigs for Melo, I believe. And there hasn’t been a new CP3 sneaker this year, right? I’m thinking both those lines are done.

But with Nike? Yeah – KD, Lebron, Kyrie, George, plus the Kobe line is still going. Plus Giannis? I’m curious as to what is the most sig lines Nike has ever had going at the same time?

  1. I like that Nike has more signature lines. Brands tend to put more work into a signature than the team shoes, not saying the team shoes aren’t good.

  2. I’d think the idea is a signature has more appeal than a regular shoe. “Hyper” this and “Hyper” that, doesn’t have much draw compared to “Westbrook” this and “Giannis” that.

  3. Just make sure to weartest Westbrook’s sig with him past the normal amount of times. He’s the featured athlete for the Jordan main line, but for the 2nd year in a row doesn’t use them on court. Safe bet would be to start with something similar the the 30.5, then maybe improve upon that.
