Nike Basketball plans to release a special edition Nike Kobe 9 Elite Low once Bryant surpasses MJ’s current scoring record. They sent out the tweet below stating to ‘Stay Tuned’ & ’77 points to go’. No official word on what the shoes will look like, but it’s been rumored that it could be a white multicolored option, or possibly bringing the multicolored option back to NIKEiD for a limited time.
Check out the tweet below and feel free to speculate in the comment section.

And here come all the Jordan fanboys and/or Kobe haters having a problem with this
Yessir
I’m here
Well looks like kobe/laker fan boy is already here
I’m interested as the GR Elite Low releases look better than what we can do on NIKE ID. Hopefully there will be more color variation in the next one because it’s been one dominant color and black in the previous ones.
Looks like the leaked KOBE X
Nah that’s the Kobe Elite Low silhouette. You can tell not only by the shape of the shoe, but especially the cut of the tongue.
A white multicored ala HTM would be kinda nice, gonna have to wait an see, should be about a week for him to reach that mark.
Him passing mj doesn’t mean anything but hopefully they are amazing.
It does to him and that’s all that matters, plus it means more then if he had the 2nd or 1st, because of his relationship with MJ. He hasn’t spoken to Malone since he “made” a pass at his wife(going by what Kobe has said, and he doesn’t take to Kareem, because he isn’t with the lakers team anymore so since 09) All this from someone who isn’t a lakers fan, never was nor will I ever will be, but I respect the talent.
I hate to see him go out and end his career like this, plus everyone knows the true king of points was and is Oscar Schmidt…dont’ care if it isn’t in the NBA 50k pts is 50pts and he showed out vs our best. /steps off soapbox
For anyone yelling where’s your stats

What im saying is it means nothing in the sense that this doesn’t make him greater then mj , it’s obviously a huge accomplishment for him an Id be extremly happy to, I just don’t feel it means anything in the jordan/kobe debate
Mike probably F off kobe
The irony of one named lakeshow stating that! 🙂 Get ready for a limited release to make it all the more “Special” to have.
Why are people saying “it’s not that big of a deal for him to pass up MJ” it is a HUGE accomplishment for kobe. That’s why they are making him this special nikeid shoe
Because it’s not that big deal that he passing mj. People make it seem as if that makes kobe better when it’s not even close.
I totally agree with you!!!
True!..Plus it took Kobe over 200 more games and over 300 more shots to pass MJ….
mamba eating a jumpman,.. both with wrinkles? 😛
Kk, responding to the Kobe haters a)answer for haters, It’ll sell like every other Kobe or Jordan!.. This is the modern NBA- where Curry and Klay Thompson are considered the best backcourt because they have quick trigger three point shots. The Modern NBA- where title’s by both players are HUGE accomplishments. Now, we saw jordan win every title with a core, number 2 in the system) Scottie Pippen. The closest Kobe got to a 50 greatest wing player that could relieve some Defensive pressure would be Trevor Ariza, who had some crunch steals to help LaL advance in their first run vs Boston. Then we saw Ron Artest added and Ariza take the money on the way out. Big point- Kobe had Pau gasol.
Now in team comparison
So in the start Jordan took 7 scoring titles. In TODAYS NBA where Kobe plays, 50 point performances are becoming less and less of a common stat. Fade to 2007: Kobe had 65 against Portland and a fade-away 3 over to Portland defenders. Two days later at Minnesota, going against a beasting Kevin Garnett with a decent supporting line up. Four days later Kobe vs Battier “He just smells blood in the water and he’s going to go after you.” — Phil Jackson On a kicks note, this brought into the making of the great white shark KB edition shoes 😉 The very next night, Kobe finished with 50 pts even, LaL won all of these games and went from slipping below .500 to several games above. The following game, Kobe took it easy and finished with 43 (how many of your favorites have dropped 43) Most Important Kobe willed a team where he was the only option, everyone knew it to the playoffs. Now this is one streak. I know Jordan had streaks- but this isn’t Jordan passing Kobe. Its Kobe passing Jordan. Kobe has not always had a MJ-Scottie combo player. The closest would be Derrick Fisher or perhaps a non effected by elements Lamar Odom. Kobe has not had the triangle offense to unleash himself in. He’s had the passing big. He’s had the conflicts with Shaq- that may be why he never grabs another ring. Who knows? The Dwight Howard try was a fail. Yes, advance statistics will always go Jordan’s way. Maybe this discussion will all go Jordan’s way. We’ve seen Kobe come back in great shape- playing great basketball when he can he may be passing more than ever. Lal has to adress rim protection. I will say year after year I feel fans learn something new about Kobe. His competitive fire almost seems to scare championship hungry players to Cleavland. The La Management- ran Pau out, Pau was traded for Marc Gasol’s rights. Steve Nash was traded for picks that have helped bring a ensemble of young guards in Phoenix. Could you imagine, LaL would be a playoff contender with a rim protecting big guy- I do not feel they need Dwight Howard, nor a aging guard. A couple years back Sacremento let Tyreke Evans walk. he’s 14 6 6- not his RoY numbers, but he’s not playing point. If LA had another match up like a Evans, or recent Free Agent- Tony Wroten- I believe Grizz paid not to have. Alright, ranting is for ranting- but the Kobe hate, with how well the team has done with just Swaggy P back- it’s a wonder what a cpl moves would do. (Boozer, Jeremy Len anyone not Swaggy, Kobe, or Jordan Hill for a ? Tell me you haven’t played the scenario on nba 2k?
WOW..that was long my friend..good points!…but…1 MVP?…in 19yrs?..cmon now? lol..hes only been considered the best of a season 1 time?..really?. also I think 1 of many reasons that MJ gets the nod is..MJ has memorable games that everyone can remember and/or knows just by the “Game” itself?..for instance the “Flu game”, “double knickel”, the “shot”, etc..game winners etc…Kobe has the 81 point game and…….lol I know theres more but?, that’s my point I guess? ya cant remember “specific” “iconic” games that hes played..don’t get me wrong I love watchin Kobe play and he is a top 10 player ever hands down. also I think Phil Jackson/triangle offende also played a huge part in both MJs, Kobes championships. IMO
add on…….. ya cant remember “specific” “iconic” games that hes played…especially “Playoffs/Finals games aswell.
I didn’t read it all but if you are trying to say mj had better talent your an idiot
LMFAO…Well I guess Iam , along with 99% of the world…were all idiots! fine with me!
I wasn’t talking to you, but if you think jordan had more help then that goes to you as well an 99% of the world? Wtf?
I was talking to memphis
my guess why kobe did not have much memorable games is because it is still early to reminisce on them. jordan came from a time where there were not much “social media” they rely on paparazzis and newspapers and a few websites that just capitalized on someone who was the most recognizable. unlike in today’s era, a supossed to be unforgetable moment may quickly be drowned by another with frequent sharing etc. and you can’t name kobe’s memorable games except with his 40something game, his 50something game etc. the 90’s were the best with nicknaming games that’s why it is memorable. easy to remember. by kobe’s time, no more nicknaming games. we all ran out of names to give to memorable games. anyway. both are great players etc im fine with that. fan of both of them. can’t wait for heat vs lakers this year. wade vs kobe. will be watching how the physically older body of wade plays vs rejuvinated body of kobe
