A Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Retro for Summer ’16

Nike Zoom Spiridon Full view

You can counter all you want with how much this shoe doesn’t look like anything you would rock. From an OG’s standpoint, we can’t tell you how long we’ve waited for this anticipated release. The shoe we’re talking about is the Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Retro.

With its quirky name from Greek mythology, this runner was ahead of its time. With its shiny foil-featured Swoosh logo, to the intricate adaptation of an outsole, and Full-Length Zoom Air, you couldn’t ask for more in a runner. We can’t help but notice that Swoosh continues to experiment with different colorways to hype up the release. However, many of us prefer its original look. You’ll never know unless you try right?

The Nike Air Zoom Spiridon release in Europe is set for mid-July, yet we’re really hoping for availability in the US.  The rumored price is around $180 but that can be subject to change. What do you guys think? Will you be copping a pair? Let us know in the comment section.

  1. I had this exact OG and I loved how light and minimal it was. However, the zoom is nonexistent.

  2. I love this shoe and I am glad it’s back. I wish they would bring back the OG white/silver/purple colorway. Of the two new or “plus” colors, the black ones look clean, have to see the white in person.

Unfortunately this is going to be like the Air Max Pillar or Total Max Uptempo, the return of a cult classic that in fell swoop kills the value of previous versions (OGs, 06) and also cheapens the appeal of the shoe. When there are few pairs out there on the secondary market, these become a sought-after thing. When they are mass produced, they hit the sale rack. The OG color might blow out at $180 but only if production is tempered. The + colors will be at Ross Dress for Less. Personally I will get them all. I had both OG colors back in the day and got the blue ones in 06. I love the shoe and it’s horribly impractical outsole (though many running shoes have equally strange ones now).
