The pattern on the tongue is very reminiscent of something a New York Yankee player would don on game day but the real inspiration behind this shoe lies in the signature wearer of this sneaker back in the ’90s. Andre Agassi was known to wear flamboyant apparel for his tennis matches, with hot pink and green outfits come to mind. A subdued (at least for Agassi’s standards) outfit that the tennis legend did wear was a striped shirt that provides the backstory to this colorway. A touch of Bright Crimson appears on the tongue patch as a reminder of the aforementioned loudness in Agassi’s wardrobe.
Despite the unofficial Yankee connection, the colorway is ironically a Europe-only for now. Click HERE to purchase the Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 ‘Pinstripes’ and make sure to use the coupon code SNEAKERS to get 10% off at checkout.
