The Nike Air Presto Gets Updated with Flyknit

The iconic Nike Air Presto is returning, but with a little twist and a mouthful of a name: the Nike Air Presto Ultra Flyknit. Flyknit will be the material that will be featured on the upper, along with some other minor changes to the silhouette.

The Nike Air Presto Ultra Flyknit has a complete Flyknit upper. A notable change is the ankle collar on the shoe, which makes it similar to a midtop, and as the Swoosh states, “lends to modern aesthetics.” A TPU cage is in place and acts as a lacing system, while still containing your foot on the footbed of the shoe.

The Nike Air Presto Ultra Flyknit will be available on April 28 via the Nike SNKRS app and available globally, at select Nike Sportswear retail accounts, on May 5. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and be sure to go after a pair if you’re a Presto fan!

Originally released in 2000, the Nike Air Presto became famous for its irreverent advertising, alpha sizing, ultimate comfort and ahead-of-its-time sock-like construction.

In the decade and a half since, the shoe has transcended performance running to become a sport-style fixture. Now, 16 years after its introduction, Nike is updating the icon with new materials and technology to create the Nike Air Presto Ultra Flyknit.

The shoe’s signature adaptable upper becomes even more pronounced through the use of Flyknit, which delivers stretch in the collar, ventilation in the toe and tongue, and support in the heel and underneath the toecap.

In another first for the Presto franchise, the Nike Air Presto Ultra Flyknit features a mid-cut collar, which lends a modern aesthetic. The TPU cage is reengineered to fit the Flyknit upper, while the ultra tooling with rubber in high-contact wear areas improves comfort and durability.

  1. I wish Nike would pad the FlyKnit with a little Pro Combat-padding, these new knits look too loose making it sloppy, the sketch of the Presto FlyKnit looks awesome though, because the collar stands by itself(a little padding would make that real-life).
