The Air Max 270 Futura is an interesting hybrid sneaker that combines a brand new Max Air unit, the tallest Nike has ever made, and a retro-inspired upper.
While this new-old hybrid look may not be for everyone, the Air Max 270 Futura is reminiscent of the old Air Max Burst and other large-volume Air Max sneakers. The shoe offers a high ride (wearers will sit on top of that huge Air unit), but it should be adequately cushioned with flex grooves for good transition.
The upper is a mix of several different materials including mesh, textiles, and synthetic leather. Nike says it has a “retro racing design” but fans of this shoe may enjoy the very ’80s Swooshes used here. The traditional lacing system is secured by the overlays at the eyestay.
This Nike Air Max 270 Futura in Dark Stucco/Newsprint/Team Orange is available now at FinishLine.com for $140. Three more colorways — Black/White, Cool Grey/White, and White/Total Orange/Blue Heron — have also debuted today at Finish Line.
