As week one of the football season comes to a close tonight, it’s safe to say that opening weekend never fails to disappoint. If you were watching the games close enough this Sunday, you may have noticed that a select few players were rocking some interesting cleats on the field.
Earlier last week, adidas and Kanye West sent out pairs of the adidas YEEZY 350 in a cleat form for players to wear in their first NFL games of the season. Among the players to receive these shoes were Houston’s DeAndre Hopkins, Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson, and Buffalo’s Sammy Watkins. These were sent out a day after Denver’s Von Miller wore a pair of YEEZY 750’s in Thursday night’s game against the Carolina Panthers.
The adidas YEEZY 350 cleat features a familiar Turtle Dove upper with the leather patch on the medial side of the foot. A cleated plate (probably TPU) replaces the traditional Boost midsole. Hopefully, for the sake of the players who wore them, these cleats have been reinforced to provide more support than the original YEEZY 350.
There’s no word on if or when these football cleats will be releasing. It seems likely, though, that adidas will continue to send out pairs of these cleats to NFL athletes in the weeks to come. Let us know what you think of the YEEZY cleats in the comment section below, and stay tuned to WearTesters.com for future news about the possible release of this shoe.
