Li-Ning Launches the WoW5 ‘Announcement’ at DTLR

Dwayne Wade has a recently released his fifth signature sneaker and it will once again take up the “Announcement” theme; it celebrates Wade’s decision, and subsequent announcement, that he was leaving a big company to partner with China’s Li-Ning Sports and create his own global signature brand.

The Li-Ning Way of Wade 5 ‘Announcement’ will once again showcase the familiar black and red colors. However, this latest iteration is arranging the colors in a new way: the upper is mostly black and rests atop a mostly white outsole, while accents of Sport Red hit the tongue, laces, collar lining, and heel logo.

This sneaker is the “mesh version” of the WoW5 which utilizes a layering of textiles and reflective materials to create a modern new material package. According to Li-Ning, the external upper pattern straps and heel counter are reinforced and made of highly reflective materials. This shoe features and internal bootie system and sits atop a two-tone translucent red and translucent white outsole. The midsole contains a carbon fiber shank and the sole cradles the upper using a newly designed dual-durometer TPU clip system that is supposed to maximize lateral supper and heel stability.

The Li-Ning WoW5 ‘Announcement’ will be sold exclusively at select DTLR stores on Sunday, November 13, for $160. An exclusive in-store meet and greet with Dwayne Wade will take place that same Sunday from 3-4 PM at the Madison and Pulaski DTLR location (locations are listed below). This shoe will hit WayOfWade.com and The Boutique (in Miami) on November 26. Additionally, the first three WoW5 colorways — ‘White Volt’, ‘Coming Home’, and ‘Announcement’ — will be available on November 26.

  1. I really kind of like this color combo. I wasn’t sure about this model overall as they shifted away from the predominantly leather uppers but this color doesn’t look bad and I enjoy the on foot experience from the mesh of the WoW 4.
