Li-Ning Way of Wade 2.0 Performance Review Update

For the first time since I’ve started performance testing basketball sneakers, I’ve had to go back an re-test a model due to changes being made after their initial release.

Yes, this can be considered a pain in the butt, however, I find it to be a great predicament to be in for two reasons. First reason, this brand will take suggestions and apply them to their shoes if warranted. Second reason, they took the suggestion and released a better product for their consumers.

We all are aware that the Li-Ning Way of Wade 2.0 had some issues with their traction when on courts with dust or debris. Luckily, they’ve hardened up the rubber a bit and it worked great on every court I’ve played on… even those disgusting 24 Hr. Fitness courts. This brought their overall traction score up to an 8.5 versus their previous 7. Their overall score hasn’t changed at all because their initial overall came out to 7.83 which I then rounded up to an even 8. The new score came our to 8.083 and there was no need to round up so I kept it at a solid 8… which is still a great score for a performance shoe. Take out the ventilation if you don’t require it and their score goes up a bit.

I’m happy the changes were made and it makes the brand look great since it shows that they care about the product and their customers. You can now buy the Way of Wade 2.0 and be confident that you’re not only getting a quality product but one that performs great as well.

  1. The new traction update is really on point. The difference is astounding between the original and now. I’ve found myself rocking my announcements more than any other shoe in my current rotation, save for my XII Taxi’s which is like playing on a cloud of titties.

  2. Cosign

NW you really should complain to your 24 management. I had to with mine on the following reasons: (1)The digital clock had been out for months. How many times have you been late somewhere because you ran one more game without checking the time? (2)The nets, 5 out 6 nets are too tight where they don’t release the ball after a made shot. No they don’t need to be broken in as they look old and raggedy now. (3)Some of the lights don’t turn on automatically with motion on the court like they’re supposed to.

Dude you pay for membership there, sound off on them! At least my floor stays considerably clean all the time.

    1. I’ve thought about it but I dont like complaining to management. I dislike the cleanliness & the fact that they let anybody into the gym so I wind up playing with a bunch of people that dont even pay to be there and then you wind up with flooded courts and drama/ on-court beef the entire time you’re there. Its pretty whack.

      1. That’s the same issue I faced when playing at my local la fitness. As you know I’m currently headed out to CA now, so at least I can look forward to consistency for my basketball experience LOL

          1. Which 24 hour do you play at? They are always packed, and the cleaning crew at the 24 hour I play at doesn’t do any dusting on the court.

      2. I used the wrong word in “complain.” What I did was address the issues with the manager who happens to share the same name as I. He’s a real buff guy(go figure) who didn’t seem to knowledgeable about the court maintenance. He was probably more concerned with the weight equipment. Whatever the reason might be, I felt like he needed to know that it had gone on long enough. I look at the membership fee as a means to pay for the services to keep things up and running and not solely for the right to use the facility. Perhaps you know yourself better than anybody and would probably go off in detail on the staff? Just like the forum here, everyone respects a respectful conversation. Good luck with the progress on current and upcoming reviews.

Don’t snitch on the other players, let them get theirs in due time lol.

  3. Nightwing, I would like to suggest that you should do a perfomance update consistently. Becauase IMO, the performance of a shoe varies depending on how long/frequent you use it. Some shoe may be horrible at first 10 uses but gets better and better when beaten up.

    1. Thats called a break-in period. All of those things are suggested within reviews. As far as wear and tear which is what you are talking about, that will vary depending on the person so I wont ever do anything like that since my wear and tear will likely be very different compared to the next person.

    1. Yes, he sprained his ankle on the great 2009 Clogposite review. They are like a Hyperrev/Lebron 11 hybrid. Lockdown is an issue.

  4. I wonder if wade has anything to do with this.I remember wade saying he appreciated the feedback on instagram. If so thats so god damn cool.

  5. My question would be do all the sneaks have the updated rubber? Or just the newer releases? Looking to buy a pair, but can’t make the jump if the rubber is still the V1 style

  6. from your experience, what would you prefer the new way of wade 2 announcement or the melo m10

  7. @nightwing2303 did Li-Ning update the traction of the W.O.W 2 in the “Overtown” colorway or did they just fix the traction to different colorways of the model other than the overtown colorway any info. would be greatly appreciated

  8. NW, how long are the replacement laces that you put in? When I took out the laces that they come with, the look crazy long. I just want to know how long I could get away with getting because I doubt that I’ll find a 60+ inch replacement in stores.

        1. Did you measure the laces? If not, any chance that you could measure them? I’m thinking about getting the Announcement colorway, and have been reading about the issues with the original laces.

Are the original laces really that bad?
