Lena Waithe, perhaps best known for flexing her mastery of the television medium on Master of None and The Chi, will be the executive producer on a new sneaker show for Jeffrey Katzenberg’s Quibi platform.

An avid sneaker enthusiast (and Emmy winner), Waithe spoke about her love of Jordans and not wanting to wear women’s sneakers on Sneaker Shopping in May. Last year, she received a very rare pair of the Etonic Akeem the Dream sneaker from her fiance instead of an engagement ring, and now, she’ll be exploring today’s sneaker culture in a new unscripted show coming soon to Quibi.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Waithe’s show You Ain’t Got These will explore sneaker culture and highlight the subtexts of race, politics, class, gender, creativity, addiction, and commerce. The show is the latest from production company Boardwalk Pictures, which is responsible for Netflix’s Chef’s Table, Last Chance U, and Fearlessness.

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Lena. She is a singular creative voice of her generation, and her passion for this subject is infectious,” said Boardwalk Pictures’ Andrew Fried. “Jeffrey Katzenberg has always been at the forefront of whatever is next in the entertainment industry. Quibi presents the opportunity to tell stories and reach audiences in a unique way and we are excited to be among the first unscripted series on this new platform.”

Earlier this year, Waithe was a part of a Nike ad campaign where she posed as a sneaker therapist.
