LaVar, Lonzo, LaMelo, and LiAngelo Ball Go Sneaker Shopping with Complex

The Ball family goes sneaker shopping with Complex. This is going to be interesting.

Whatever your feelings are about Lavar Ball and the way he conducts his business, you have to admit that it’s at the very least intriguing to hear what comes out of his mouth.

LaVar on how easy it was for Lonzo to design his first signature sneaker: “Everything on that shoe, Lonzo created with no team, just the creativity of a 19-year-old that knows what he likes. Designing it didn’t take too long. Took about three, four hours.”

Those that work for sneaker brands know that a lot more than three hours time goes into creating these shoes. The design process alone can take months — and then you have to fine tune all the details. Wear-test the products and making sure the shoe is suitable for playing basketball for hours on end takes time.

As we all know, even the “big ballers” of the footwear industry release shoes that have defects or flaws within its performance. How the ZO2 will be game ready with three hours of time put into it by the time the shoe made it to production is something we’ll all have to wait and see about.

Hopefully you enjoy the video and at least got a good laugh out of some of the dialogue. Feel free to share your thoughts with us on everything Lavar Ball said below in the comment section.

        1. Yeah she was kinda baiting, and it’s just not too surprising he wasn’t thrilled to talk to her after being aware of what she said about him before.

In regards to the whole BBB thing. Most people see through it, but it’s on them to get all critical of it. I’m just staying humored by it. In some ways, you just have to sit, and laugh thinking “man, this is really about to happen”. Compare it to say, Nightwing legitimately wear testing a product that results in a collaboration, yet that BBBrandis just out to make the impression. It can really be a garbage shoe, but Lonzo isn’t the same kind of sneakerhead people are here — even if he’s an NBA prospect. As an honest 19 year old he drew up what he wanted and his dad made it happen. Slap on a ridiculous price tag and it got everyone’s attention, and apparently some people bought it. You can call it manipulative as clickbait news, but he’s diving head-first into a business plan that is so crazy, it might just work. It’s like something that’s so ugly, it ends up looking good anyway.

LaVar is obnoxious, and has crap wording, but I don’t think he’s a legit a-hole or have any form of true hate towards anyone. I wouldn’t be surprised if he, and other media figures, just in on an act that manipulates the kneejerk internet audience. This guy flipped a switch on the spotlight stupid-quick within the last year as his eldest son was in college.

On a side note, I believe the ZO2 Slides actually have the same outsole as the Prime. Strap those tight = guaranteed Baller capable.

      1. To quote Charlamagne tha god, that was a white woman “weaponizing”, her whiteness, and I agree. She shot Ball loaded question, and it backfired. Ball is doing a clumsy imitation of Muhammad Ali, but to suggest that his sons live in “fear” of him is not only out of line, but code for being an abusive Black father. Ask Bill Maher about what happens when you get a bit too comfortable with yourself while discussing other cultures.

  1. a bit redundant arent you.
of course he meant design alone, aeshtetically , which again, is still work in progress.
it was about the concept .

  2. It shouldn’t take too long to say “yeah, make it look like a kobe takedown model with fake bounce”

  3. I have no problem w/ BBB or their pricing whatsoever. I think its great. they are doing their own thing. if it tanks, its on them and it doesnt have any impact on us, so why would anyone care? if they chose to price their shoes at $5000, so what? no one has to buy them.
the thing that makes me cringe about LaVar is his act. it reminds me of a minstrel show. it feels like he’s doing a super-racist black stereotype, which I find sad bc of how insulting it is. why would anyone do that? his kids are so uncomfortable w/ the act they try to be invisible. you can tell by their body language and silence they are mortified by their father
