After a successful five year stint as an episodic series, Uncle Drew is finally getting its own movie.
Starring Kyrie Irving of the Boston Celtics as Uncle Drew himself, the highly anticipated movie will feature basketball legends like Nate Robinson, Reggie Mille, Shaq, Chris Webber, and Lisa Leslie.
According to IMDb, the movie will highlight Uncle Drew’s return to the basketball world via the Rucker Classic street ball tournament as he assembles his old basketball pals to compete, along with Dax (portrayed by Lil Rel Howery).
One can only imagine the Uncle Drew-related merchandise will release, and when we know more we’ll update you.
The movie is set to hit the theaters on June 29 as a Summit Entertainment release; though originally conceived by Pepsi, the movie will be now produced by Temple Hill in association with PepsiCo’s Creators League Studios.

Where’s Chris Chase? Chris Chase should be included in the cast, the legendary shooter from the Bay area.
I think this should be a fun movie to watch. Don’t expect anything groundbreaking, just go into it for a fun time. Expecting too much of this will always lead to disappointment, but if you’re just looking at it as a ‘Space Jam’ type movie, then I think it will be enjoyable. I personally think the Uncle Drew series was original and very entertaining, so I’m very excited for this, and I think it will be a good summer movie that will be a blast for viewers looking for a good, fun movie experience!
